Eye Bags

Eye bags can make you look tired or aged even when you are fully rested, often resulting from a combination of fluid retention, fat displacement, and thinning skin. At ORI, we move beyond quick fixes to address the structural causes behind under-eye puffiness and "heaviness."

Our goal is to smooth the transition between your eyes and cheeks, restoring a firm, bright, and well-rested appearance. By strengthening the skin’s foundation and improving its elasticity, we can reduce the appearance of puffiness and restore a firm, refreshed contour to your lower lids.

WHAT CAUSES IT?

Eye bags happen when the "support system" under your eyes starts to weaken. Think of the skin and muscles like a small hammock — as they lose their stretch over time, the natural fat that sits around your eye begins to sag forward, creating that puffy look. Because the skin in this area is so thin, it does not take much for that shifting fat to become visible as a "bag."

At the same time, this area is like a sponge for fluid. When you eat salty foods, do not get enough sleep, or deal with allergies, extra fluid pools in that saggy space, making the puffiness look even worse. Over time, as we lose the "bouncy" collagen that keeps skin tight, the bags become more permanent, creating a tired look that does not go away even after a good night's rest.

HOW CAN I TREAT AND PREVENT?

To treat eye bags, the goal is to tighten the "hammock" of skin and smooth the transition between the eye and the cheek so the puffiness blends back into the face.

  • Microneedling Radiofrequency: This treatment sends heat deep into the skin to "shrink-wrap" the tissue. It tightens the loose skin that allows bags to bulge, making the area look flatter and firmer.

  • HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound): This uses focused ultrasound energy to target the deeper foundation of the skin. It helps to lift and tighten the lower eyelid area from the inside out without any needles or downtime.

  • Dermal Fillers: By carefully placing these injections where the eye bag meets the cheek, we can fill in the "hollow" that makes the bag look so prominent. This creates a smooth, seamless line that reflects light evenly.

  • PDRN: These act as a "skin reset." They thicken the thin skin under the eyes, giving it more strength to hold back puffiness and improving the overall texture.

  • Picosecond Lasers: If the eye bags are accompanied by dark, etched-in lines or pigment, these lasers help resurface the skin and clear up the "shadows" that make the bags look deeper than they actually are.

The best way to prevent eye bags from worsening is to support the skin's structure and manage fluid levels.

Reducing your salt intake, especially in the evening, helps prevent the "sponge effect" where fluid pools under your eyes overnight. For long-term skin strength, daily use of an eye cream with peptides helps keep the collagen in that "hammock" strong, while wearing UV protection ensures the sun does not dissolve the elastin that keeps the area tight.
